A-10cleaners and alterations shops

Web design for dry cleaners and alterations shops in San Jose

For a cleaner or an alterations shop, the website answers four questions: where are you, when are you open, how long will it take, and can you do this particular thing. LaunchLane builds them to answer all four in the first screen.

A-10Customers

A tiny radius and a very specific question

Almost nobody drives across San Jose to drop off a shirt. Your customer is within a couple of miles and they are searching for something narrow: a cleaner near their office, someone who can take a hem up by Friday, a shop that will handle a wedding dress. The search radius is small and the intent is precise.

That precision is an advantage. You are not competing with the whole city, you are competing with the four other shops in your part of town — and most of them have no website at all, or one that does not say what they actually do. Being the one that answers the specific question wins the customer before they leave the house.

The high-value work is the specialised work: wedding dress cleaning and preservation, leather and suede, restoration after smoke or water, tailoring rather than basic hemming. Those are the searches worth ranking for and they are almost always missing from the site.

A-10Problems

What's usually wrong with these sites

Not a general list — these are the four that come up again and again for cleaners and alterations shops.

01
No hours on the site at all
This is the most common failure in the category. Someone with a suit in the back seat is deciding right now whether to drive over, and there is nothing on the page telling them whether you're open.
02
The specialty work is invisible
The shop does wedding dress preservation, leather, and real tailoring, and the site says "dry cleaning and alterations". All the profitable searches go somewhere else.
03
No turnaround times
"How long does it take" is the question every customer has and almost no site answers. Standard turnaround, same-day cutoff, and rush options are cheap to state and they close the decision.
04
Impossible to find on a map
Many of these shops are in a strip mall with an address that doesn't help. Without a proper Google Business Profile and a tappable map link, people genuinely cannot find the door.

What I build differently for cleaners and alterations shops

  • 01

Hours, address and phone in the first screen

Not in a footer, not on a contact page. The four things people came for, immediately, with tap-to-call and tap-for-directions.

  • 02

    A page for each specialty

Wedding dress cleaning and preservation, leather and suede, alterations and tailoring, restoration. Separate pages so each one can be found by the person searching for exactly that.

  • 03

    Turnaround times, stated

Standard, same-day cutoff, and rush. Answering it on the page saves you the phone call and wins you the customer who was comparing.

  • 04

Pickup and delivery, if you do it

If you offer it, it should be one of the first things on the page — it is a genuine differentiator and most shops hide it.

  • 05

Google Business Profile set up properly

Correct pin, correct hours, correct categories, photos of the actual storefront so people recognise it from the street.
